New Work, SPIRIT, Labels

More work for SPIRIT magazine (the in-flight periodical for Southwest Airlines).
This story is about the importance of reading the food content labels on your
packages, as many general labels are misleading. Love this look, and hope to
continue doing more of it down the road. The folks at SPIRIT have been really
great to work with as well. Stay tuned for more.

If any of you are flying the friendly skies (not Southwest Airline’s motto, but ok…)
in August, check for my name in the fine print of SPIRIT magazine, SWA’s in-flight
guide to awesome things and such. I did a series of illustrations for a story on
medical technology innovations (one of these seen above), and a 1/4 pg illo on the
best foods to eat if you wanna stay heathy and off the meds. You can strike up a
conversation with that Hottie sitting next to you by droppin’ my name. Safe flying!

Small Victories

I really wanted to submit to this exhibition Small Victories, curated by Jeff Hamada
over at Booooooom.com, but the last 6 months have been, well, BANANAS. There’s
some great and not so great stuff in there, but overall I think the collection is pretty
fun. It all has a subtle, grungy, but hip undertone which I like. Not to mention that
the collection is from countries around the world. Take a look; above is one
of my favorites.

I’ve been diving through hundreds of bookmarks I’ve collected over the years in
search of photographers for a new project I’ve been working on (I’d tell you but
it’s a secret). Namiko is one of the stand-outs, although not a winner for this
particular project. I love her because her images evoke such a fantasy in some
ways– they always tell you a story, but certainly not the ending. Almost bizarre,
but truly stunning images. The one above is one of my favorites (it comes from a
series), as I am attracted to really graphic imagery. Love it.
